EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Hey everybody, just looking for somehatching help. After removing the turner this morning on my GFQ styrofoam still air incubator, the temp has dropped, and I can't get it up past 98. I just added 3 water bottles filled with hot water. I am hoping that works to stabilize the temps. I can't adjust the heater thingy any more. Suggestions?

how long has it been?
could it also be the location of your thermo? is it still air or forced??
the turner motor could have been adding to the heat

i am assuming you are locking down, and if so the drop in temp will be ok, some people say its better to hatch at a degree or two lower

It has been about 4 hours now. It is still air. I had read that the turner could increase the heat and the temp would drop when I removed it. Yes, I am in lockdown, or trying to be... Hoping that temp comes up a bit.

I've hatched at 98° in a still air a bunch of times, chooks were fine... Good luck!

i think its fine, dont mess with it

remember the turner also added height, heat rises, therefore the location of your thermo is different , lower

Dan had a nice hatch after temps down to 55° for quite a bit, and Ralphie had 100% of eggs left out overnight in 75° temps hatch. Once you get to lockdown I'd say you can go 95-102 perfectly safely.

On my first lockdown, I couldn't get temp to stay stable above 93°F for a while... Had a 91% hatch.
