I learned this by sharing drinks in a pub in Munich back in 2000 with a guy who claimed to be a personal friend of Putin. (I think he was just trying to get lucky - that's what my brother says, he was there. But still, creepy...)
OMG, Dan, I missed it, why do you have all these goatsies???!!!!!!
I really do wonder if this is that "cooling" factor - similar to what Brinsea has added as a feature to their incubator programming. (@Pensmaster - what was the outcome of you using the cooling function? I missed it.)The experiment is over...
Leaving eggs at day 18 sit outside on top to of incubator, whether on purpose or because of Senioritis, will not affect the hatching ability of the eggs adversely.
Every egg that sat out for 20 hours hatched!!!
I think Jazzy is finally laying!
Saw her in the box clucking away, and 30min later a found a green coloured egg in the box she was in.![]()

Quote: I agree, that's why I acted. I felt it was serendipity, which is how cat ownership tends to go for me. Opal is under the futon, having found an old stuffed dog toy (a cow) to hide behind, and Brooke is under a set of shelves. I decided to put a little plate of food near each of them so at least they'd have the option of a snack.

Just a big bunch of enablers that loves you, Kid. Enjoy!re: My Gift![]()
My dear friends…
I am in shock, and also know that I am a big baby and crying. I dont really know what to say, besides holy cow, thank you so very much, and OMG yer all nuts, that much $ at a chicken store!
Today I was talking to a BYC friend that lives local and we realized we have been yapping etc for over six years now about chickens and life, We were discussing when I cant babysit anymore what I can try to do next to help support my kids, I tried to explain to her when she asked if I get paid for anything I have done on BYC that I dont, but its been a major source for support through the most horrible times in my life. When I realized the cancer support groups only brought me down more with the disappointments, discussion and even the deaths, I swore I needed to find something to occupy my time that keeps me uplifted and looking forward.
BYC and the associated hobbies/addictions sure took hold and helped me be more positive and realize I could still live my life even if I dont know the ending. I wont go on, but I think you should all realize how much you mean to me.Believe it or not, this has been minor compared to what I have been through, but to know that your cared ab and appreciated its absolutely amazing and I truly enjoy helping others with the incubation, not to mention trying to save some babies and stress from hatchers.![]()
I have a lifelong list of mentors, everyone is wise in some way and has taught me something, its a gift to give back in any way.
Thanks for walking with me when I needed support, thanks for walking ahead me when I needed guidance and thanks for walking behind me when I needed someone to watch my back. thanks for tolerating my idiosyncrasies and crazy cattywampus habits.
You might not know this, but you helped me find happiness in being the person that I really am, thank you everyone![]()
Lol. We have them because there's 38 acres that are useless because of all the underbrush and one of my moms friends didn't need them for that purpose anymore (had too many) so we got them. 15 of them, that puts us at 20 goats!!!!!No - this started with her asking me for help, and now that I've adopted these two, I wasn't able to help her.![]()

Thank you kindly! First time using an incubator, usually use broodies. I have a GFQ Styrofoam still with a turner. I had gotten shipped eggs from fellow BYCer but the shipment was delayed, so we both expected poor viability. That was correct, none of them developed. I also included four of my own girls' fertile eggs in case we had a lone hatch from her stock. Mine have all developed well, and tomorrow is lockdown, day 18.
I just candled the eggs this morning, and the air cells don't look big enough. I was a jerk and didn't weigh them before I put them in, so I don't know the weight difference.
It's not a big deal if they don't hatch, but I'd like to at least learn. Is there anything I can do now? I had been running the humidity at 35%, but sometimes it got up to 40%. Our house is pretty dry right now.
Original post above. Pictures below are what I just took. Any advice welcome!
do what we said Love, raise when you see drawdown they are not too terrible! and they look like very round eggs
oh nos!! I am so sorry !! Dont forget what I said, I can just tell mom to start saving I can trade her OE and polish for hers since polish are freeloadersLost one of my brahma babies today from a dumb mistake I made. I have the housed in a cage and when I fed everyone yesterday I apparently didn't latch their cage and they got out. My adult birds killed the little room but the little girl managed to find herself a hiding place and survived unscathed. Other than having s*** scared out of her. I imagine literally too. Poor girl! She was sure happy to see me. Good thing I decided to hatch more for the EHAL. I need me another rooster. Glad the girl survived though, think she's gonna be a beauty.
how many are turks?I set 53 eggs last night (and I think 34 last week). I hope people are ready for chicks around here in a couple weeks lol
I am so sorry, I have been feeling so bad these past few days!! flu and the dang cold is kicking my ask! Thank you so much beautifulI think we need to encourage Sally to check her PM.![]()
We love you Sally!re: My Gift![]()
