Hi, in from chores again.. For you southerners I thought I would post the beginning of a post to the Minnesota peoples...


What a great day it ended up being 18 degrees no wind and the sun is out. I spend a couple hours catching up on things I could not get done when it was cold out. I started the crematory, JJ, that Toad and the hen from yesterday are now ashes to be spread somewhere.





I know some of you boiled peanut eaters will go nuts thinking 18 degrees can feel so nice and warm...

As far as sneaking me a dux, that's fine with me. I believe there is less than a 1% chance man causes global warming, but incase I am wrong I will burn the dux feathers and grease in the hopes of speeding up the process. I want palm trees here!

Sorry Ralphie it's 75 here already. Not too happy about it. Flies are out traps are set. One more chicken chore then starting inside stuff.

Agree. Wasn't there there something about it on the first aid thread about feeding canned oil based mackerel to help loosen it up?

I know, right?! And now looking at a house and 25 acres just outside the city limits with 25 acres. City water AND well water, barn, RV hookups, clear pastures, 14 horse stalls several fences areas, large corral, all mineral rights. House is ugly but livable... $314,000. Only 34 minutes commute to work. Makes me want to drive by and check out the area. No, just the land, no where to live, would have to buy an RV and/or build. Taxes on either are NUTHIN' compared to what I pay right now which is almost $10,000. Don't let anyone tell you how awesome it is to live in a state with no income tax. They just get it from you in property taxes.

How close to important places, like feed stores, Home Depot or Lowes or Menards, TSC?

Not sure, but I would bet TSC is closer from there than it is from here... It's essentially across town from me - I'm north, this is south.

Good morning. Hi Kristen good luck with chores. 5 sons sorry about the deer. Really glad he didn't come inside the car. My friend at work had a Canadian Goose hit his car on the top. $1200 damage I think was the final results Good morning Abi coffees not been regular these days. The list is huge today. Including getting numbers down on chickens and the garden seeds are coming up. As well as weeds. We are in the 70's this week for the first time this year and growth is tremendous.

The grass (well, weeds that I call grass) is growing so fast, over knee high in places already!!! It's damp today, so I haven't gotten my mower, but my neighbor is out there whacking away with his. Got all the chicken chores done this AM. Still have a long list, but taking a break... Wow - she's a pro! I have a couple that threaten to go broody each year, but it's always when I don't want chicks or when it'll be too hot for them to be safe doing it. Maybe I'll let one try one year.

I do have to admit something.... I carry nails in my pockets. The coop falls apart often enough I got tired of running in to get nails and started carrying 'em around. Haven't found pocket duck tape yet or I'd carry that too.

It's her first time! So far so good. I had a giant cochin go broody last year, along with a BCM and HRIR. The cochin spent most of her time squatting above the nest and panting. She ended up being a chick stomper, so I gave her remaining eggs to the other two and she went straight to the roost and never looked back. Just to finish the story, each other broody hatched her entire clutch, but the BCM wouldn't keep the black chicks that hatched. She kept pushing them out of the nest. I put them under the HRIR, who accepted everyone. A threefold adoption (eggs, pipped eggs, and hatchlings).

i dont remember that, i know the article two crows wrote she says water and massages

From what I read in the learning center I think it is a yeast infection. I will have acidified copper Sulfate in a couple days.

Oh I did she her poop yesterday and check every turd in the run. No worms that I could see.
