When you get a chance, could you please get hold of Granny Hatchet? She has a 220v cabinet incubator that seems to have a 110v plug, and isn't heating properly. Nobody's been able to come up with a manual. It didn't take long to exceed my very limited knowledge. @granny hatchet

I am guessing in this case it is probably just junk I will come down pick it up and haul it to the dump for her, if she wants, She only needs to give me 20-30 bucks for gas,,,, It will save her the hassle and work,

We live in a rural area, where people sell eggs for 1.50 a dozen ^.^ soooo 2 dollars is pushing it. LOL

Bummers, I"m right in the middle of a somewhat populated area. But I work with at least 4 others that have chickens, they don't bring in eggs. One that has chickens - she and her husband don't like the taste of the fresh eggs, so they give them all away, and buy bland eggs. They just like the chickens.

We got SLWs last week. My sister had gold laced as they were soo friendly and really good layers. I can't afford orps or Orloffs though I really do love the look and would love to have them Plus with 200 chicks and around 30 duck eggs due in the next few weeks I'm sure we don't need more.

No reason to be sorry, I just wanted to clarify what we were discussing. When breeding genetically polled to genetically polled there is a 12.5% chance of producing a hermaphrodite goat, at least some studies have shown.
My employer is the University of Texas System, it's required of all faculty. It's part of the annual review process and they're in the data system - it's a SACS accreditation requirement.

Yeah, that's what I was curious about. I'm interested in a breeder in San Antonio (Texas Skyz, http://www.txskyz.com), they are near me and have nice looking Nigerian Dwarfs (there are another couple breeders around as well, but that's the one I keep haunting). They have polled kids available sometimes. Most of their updated availability is on Facebook, but you can see the listings. I was thinking polled would be easier, and just make sure buck is not polled (I don't plan on keeping a buck myself.) Mostly I'm window shopping.

Good Morning folks. I have another question if anyone would like to entertain us again today with suggestions? LOL How do YOU feed fermented feed to your hens / chicks? I have cochin babies and I have to admit that their very adorable feather legs are getting kinda sloppy looking from this method.

Did you see my post? I tagged you. I don't do FF - didn't work for me. I raise the feeder to back height, and all the scratching out of food stops. Try it. I posted a photo.

Good news! The post office called and told me to come get my eggs! It's kinda funny since they've never called me to pick up eggs before.

None cracked or broken, but there are a couple of wiggly air cells. None are totally detached at least.

One problem, though. I have no idea what they sent me since they don't mark the eggs.The only ones I can identify are the 2 Welsummer eggs.




Note: The really shiny brown one in the back is the other Welsummer egg. It has dark brown speckles.

That looks like a nice farm. You can breed poll to poll, just be aware of the risk. If I recall correctly, it's a 12.5% chance, which is a 87.5% chance of it not occurring.
Ah, good point! Yeah, everything looks really good there, and I like their philosophy. They stay SUPER busy and when I'm ready for goats it'll be a fight to get them, because she doesn't take deposits or reservations. I would also apparently have to join FB because that's how they manage their available kids.
Yes, there is a lot of people that just use FB now for their sales. Flat Rock is another nice place in Texas, not certain of the city though.

Well, it could be awesome or awful.   That white one alone is going to cause me some stress. It could be a Blue Andalusian (which I've had and like) or it could be a broiler (which I don't want), or it could be a Fayoumi (in which case I'll scream if the ban hasn't lifted cause I really don't want one of those). My brother was here when I opened the box and he swears that big one is a goose egg.

As for the Brahmas, when I showed the eggs to Blu after he got home the first words out his mouth were 'I hope there's a Brahma in there', so it's safe to say I could get away with it.
