That right there is why I don't buy live animals to be shipped through mail...

Hope they arrive safely.
So you live where every breed of poultry is available locally?

When you live rurally, you have no other way of getting access to speciality birds. Sebastapol geese aren't a thing around here. And, i've had such bad luck with shipped eggs in the mail, I wouldn't want to waste the money on the eggs, just to not have any hatch.
I agree. Even if you live in a big metro area, the only way to get rare birds or any other animal for that matter is to ship.
I have a closed flock and no longer have birds shipped to me but I have bees shipped almost yearly.

Nope. I just make do with what I can find through hatching eggs, local breeders, and feed stores. I almost decided to give it a try once, but there's just so many horror stories.

Never said that it was a bad idea in general to ship thru mail, and for Kaj wanting geese it's the best option...

Good morning Beautiful!!!!!!

Thanks but my biggest interest in these is I could drive and pick them up. Also it is one of many breeds on my bucket list.

Good morning Dax, purchased some eggs from Florida 12 LF Dark Cornish. Development in quite a few. Rest are some of mine. Also have a broody working more of mine.

How's your chicks doing?
They are growing fast. This was last night the five week old ones. Per usual too many cockerels with the HRIR plus the yellowish ones two of the three possible blue layers I kept are looking male.

The feed store birds were shipped through the mail.

I think I've only had birds shipped to me about 7 times. No horror stories. After about 200 or so chicks, only 3 arrived dead.
I even had a shipment of 21 that got lost in the mail. My foundation stock of penedesencas. They were 3 days old when shipped and took an extra day. All arrived alive.

They weren't shipped TO me. I am not against shipping birds, I just don't wish to deal with the hassle of waiting and worrying about if they'll get there on time and replacing birds that went kaput.
