Please don't take this wrong or too personally. Too bad there is not a single smart gentleman to say sweet things like that here ;)

@Fire Ant Farm Good to hear from you. I hope you get good rest when you get to rest.

Prayers need we are getting a bunch of warning for really bad weather tonight and tommorow.we have a rotten tree next to our house please don't blow to hard wind.and also what do I do if the power goes out
This will give you some information if it does. http://www.brinsea.com/Articles/Advice/PowerOff.aspx I don't know what is in Sally's notes but if you don't have a generator, You can use wood or gas to heat water, rocks, bricks or whatever to stick into the incubator to keep the temp up.
I'm not sure it's really going to matter. The swarms coming off the hives near me (don't understand how they still have bees in their hives) are building hives at all heights. Unfortunately, by the time I hear about these hives someone has already sprayed them. :/ I haven't caught one before. This was supposed to be my first year keeping bees.
I've been beekeeping for close to 10 years with ups and downs. I started with an extremely strong hive this time last year and I didn't get it split in time and it swarmed. Then swarmed again and again. I caught a couple of the swarms and bought a couple packages. At one point I had 4 hives and the big black ants moved in and killed them off. I'm redesigning my stands to try and prevent that. If I could find the ant colonies I'd get some predatory nematodes to dump on the hills. I've read that the swarm boxes need to be about 15' above ground and about the capacity of a 10 frame deep body box.
So tell me I am not alone here. On FB tonight there is a discussion on how much room per chick. Most say 4 square ft per bird...I said 2 square ft per bird. I did not tell them there are times I am over that just to add body heat in the coop.
Quote:
Large Fowel chicken
4 per LF inside minimum. The high stocking density will contribute to higher humidity to the coop and negate any benefit from body heat.

Happy Birthday!!!
Morning yall. Thank you for the coffee MC First Broody of the year. She seems to have transitioned off the nest and into her new quarters quite nicely. She apparently did not like the eggs where I arranged them though. I had them in the back with food and water where she is now. When I checked on her this morning the eggs had been repositioned to the very front. Temporary accommodations I had to pull the water and food out and leave the door open so she can get to it if she desires. Figure something else out when I get home. And she was covering the eggs fine until I went to rearrange stuff and she got sassy with me.
Good luck.
I got up to get the brooders ready, Metzer farms told me my geese/ducks are arriving today, and i'm hoping they are okay, since they were all shipped on monday morning.........
WOW!!!, That's a long time in the mail. Take a camera with you when you go to the post office. Have you called your PO yet?
Thank you very much my freind! Look what I have seen in the T.V just now! Isn't that a coincident?

Good morning everyone!

I have turkey poults hatching this morning. I was really concerned about them some I'm hatching in the bottom of the cabinet bator this time. I just didn't have room in my hatcher for all my turkey eggs and chicken eggs. I could not, no matter how hard I tried, get the humidity above 55% so this morning, I broke the rules and opened it to check on them (and cram in another bowl of water). Thera one hatches, a while bunch of pips and one unzipping. I shut it quick as soon as I got the water in there but they should be fine. The only thing that stinks with the 1202 is not having a viewing window when you need it! Chicks should start hatching tomorrow since my poults are ALWAYS a day early.

I'm very excited too. The blue birchen brahma eggs I ordered last week are out for delivery and should be here today! I thought they weren't coming till tomorrow. This works perfect and I can just set them with all my regular eggs. I'll be setting my first batch of silver welbars too tomorrow :)

Thanks but my biggest interest in these is I could drive and pick them up. Also it is one of many breeds on my bucket list.

Do they have many birds to chose from? Could you possibly check the structure of the bird? Or do you know the seller well enough? The hen I had shipped to me last year doesn't have the best structure and isn't laying as many eggs as the others. Still trying this structure thing out and on the ones I've been keeping it does seem to be making a difference
