Don't know how she did it. It is just like daffodil to do something like that. She is the weirdo of the group.

Darn..scary, too bad you found her this month instead of next!

Absolutely beautiful. Appears very well maintained as compared to mine.
I agree anything over an acre is a lake. Theres no way I could maintain that size. I have just under an acre and it's a mess.
What was the concern with the well? pond water getting into the well? Was the well used to fill the pond? Mine is currently set up to be fed by a shallow well but I currently have a hole in the dam so it isnt holding but about half capacity(which is still 5-10ft at deepest part). If I could figure out an easy way to repack the dam I would fill and restock, as it sits its little more than an eyesore and a breeding ground for turtles, snakes, mosquitos, and the annaul pair of geese that decide to nest on the island.

The level of the well was coincidentally the level of the pond. Well was never any good as this area doesn't have a good water table. Mines about 6 feet deep and 40 wide 150 long tapering to the back. Agree it's always used by a pair of ducks full of willows etc. one turtle and millions of frogs. Sometimes they are so loud you can't hear yourself think.

I think that if you look very close you can find a new vain or at least some nuggets! Search you property I think you are seating on some honey hole!

Me and my friend!(not really! )

Neighbors are always looking here. One had the area checked by "experts" they discovered that between me and my neighbor is the richest vein in the valley. If that were so he'd have bought the property back when it was for sale. :lau

The Story of Adam & Eve's Dog

Adam and Eve said, 'Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you anymore. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us.'

And God said, I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves.'

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve.

And it was a good animal and God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail.

And Adam said, 'Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal.'

And God said, 'I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG.'

And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them.

And they were comforted.

And God was pleased.

And Dog was content and wagged his tail.

After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, 'Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well.'

And God said, I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration.'

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.

And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.

And Adam and Eve learned humility.

And they were greatly improved.

And God was pleased...

And Dog was happy.

And Cat . . .

Didn’t give a crap one way or the other.

Yeah but next century. Some of their equipment as in 1 inch cables were left on the property. The cable I used for the grandkids tree house was found in the ground 60 years later. It had a very small layer of rust and the two clamps that I reused were in better shape than some of the new ones I've used. Literally the nuts came free from the u bolts with little effort.

:woot

I've seen at least four or five.

Do you have any fish in that pond?

She does. And turtles.

There's your sign. Longer, thicker legs and rapidly developing comb.

I have some friends that started Geese Peace. It is a group that advocates humane control of nuisance Canadians. When they nest in business parks or overwhelm cemeteries a friend has federal and state permits to take down goose nests and run the geese off.
I'll see if I can find a video of her getting attacked by a gander. There was an injured goose that I helped catch and rehome.

Smart.

I'm glad I was forced to take a welding class. It was a requirement at Ford for all skilled trades to learn to weld. It was because they were going to eliminate the welding trade so everyone had to do their own welding. I wasn't fond of the class and it was the only class that I didn't make an A in. He gave me a B.
But since then I bought an arc welder and a mig welder. Glad to have them.
Being able to do carpentry, masonry/stone work and weld all types of metal is wonderful.

Depends on the hen but usually, they get top notch results.
Try bantam Cochins or (I can't believe I'm saying it) silkies.

My garage was a welding shop until about twenty years ago. When my husband's uncle wasn't welding, he was building one thing or another. It's sad that what tools weren't stolen (mostly the ones dating back about 150 years), are laying unused because my husband never learned to work with his hands, and I only know how to use the drill press.

Do you have any fish in that pond?

Indeed. Sometimes I see a big splash, which I am told is NOT an alligator, so it's got to be a big fish. Actually, I can stand along the edge and see fish, good sized ones. I just don't know what types are out there for sure.

That's a lake!!!

I can reach most sides of mine with a backhoe. And it's beyond time to do it. Yes it's way too much to keep up with.

There are a lot of people that tell me it's a lake, not a pond. LOL! We have always called it a pond.

You all have a private pond there?
ep.gif

Yes :) However, there is a small section that we do not own. Just the way the property was laid out when purchased.

Absolutely beautiful. Appears very well maintained as compared to mine.
I agree anything over an acre is a lake. Theres no way I could maintain that size. I have just under an acre and it's a mess.

I just keep working away at it, little by little. It is a pain to maintain. I keep saying I am going to get some goats or mini cows to maintain the edge for me.

She does. And turtles.

So many turtles! When my daughter was much younger, I could get at least 10 minutes of quiet time by laying on the trampoline with her and telling her if we were very quiet we could watch the turtles come out of the water. They love sun bathing on the random tree limbs/logs in the pond.
