Did you know that elephant seals only breath once every 20 minutes while on land, and can go 2 hours between breaths while at sea?
We are looking at these guys to figure out a mechanism to rescue/protect the brain after stroke.
Did you find anything? How their brain gets the Oxygen while not breathing? Myoglobin storage?
Actually it may sound odd but their high levels of blood carbon monoxide is neuro protective.
