EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

If I didn't have 70 chicks growing out, I'd say send them to me. But I would then die of exhaustion trying to build too many growout pens...

My teenager officially "hates" me.... I think I win. Maybe if he hates me enough, he'll stop talking to me???????????

A mom can hope, right? (i'm kidding, but if he stopped talking to me, then maybe he'd stop telling me he hates me.)

Jace is still settin' tight on 5 eggs, 4 bantam and one LF. She looks like a puddle of many different colours.

I actually DID just go buy a belt sander - a Hitachi that's rated well. Will be trying it out this evening as soon as I finish the chicken chores. But I had to get my taxes done first. Didn't take very long - I thought I've owe money which is why I put off doing it this year, but my high property taxes and charity donations mean I'm getting a big return - and should have done this in FEBRUARY!!!!

But at least it's done.

I'm so tired, have so much to do. Whine whine whine...

I hope the belt sander helps.

Found a hona clutch: 22 eggs. And another clutch of 6. What to do... what to do...?

Very nice, setting them?

So I went to move the chicks from the broody this afternoon. Was quite an encounter with a not happy hen. Four of the chicks disappeared through the cyclone fencing which I didn't see at the time as I was wrestling a very mad hen and trying to catch chicks at the same time. Managed to catch one the rest I thought went under the feed box. Well two did the others went out of the coop. Which is the reason I was moving them in the first place. It's not a chick tight coop and well critters like chickens especially chicks around here. The other reason to move them, it's the driest area of the coop and the rest of hens need back in. It's RAINING again!!!!!
Here's one of the chicks that came out of hiding when hen called to it. In order for this day old chick to get to this spot it had to climb a 3&1/2 foot vertical wall. Fortunately they all came back to mom when she called them.

Were you able to get them all?

I cleaned his room for him after 2 weeks of warning him what I was going to do.
Everything he left on the floor was thrown out.

It's gonna take him a while to forgive me. LOL

Yeah my son did the same to me when he was a teenager. In fact ran away from home many times. It wasn't till after he joined the Navy that he discovered he didn't hate me after all. In fact he said I was a good dad. Shock of all times. Guess he got an earful from all his new found friends what their lives were like. He now has a 3 year old. The worm turns.
