That little bitty lure I posted caught me all sorts of crappie (bigger stuff, too). It think it was magic or something.

When I get live bait, it's in the same lake with a net before fishing. But I usually don't bother with live bait except at the coast/saltwater (they wouldn't hit anything else). Then it was live shrimp in a bubble bucket, and you had to be ready to set the hook the second the second it hit the water - especially good for Spanish mackerel and also trout.

Just wanted to pop in and say thank you all! My little turkey chick is doing very well, as are the other two that hatched. Also, got my new incubator today so I won't have any more temperature fluctuations from now on. :D

Turkey chick is sleeping on the stuffed sloth, to the right.

We can trap and net as long as they're used in same body of water, cause of the hemorrhaging disease? Otherwise they have to be certified with receipt also. One bait shop has like a soda machine outside and you can buy live bait, minnows, worms, maggots etc when they're closed.
It may be the same here.... But I've not seen a Game Warden in over 20 years
It hit 90F here today, I think... Here we go - so it begins... :th I don't think it's a tall tale, sweetheart. it was hot today. Awwwwwwww.... Now I want a cow. :D :lau I never get to fish in clear water. I always caught the very most on a tiny lure that looked like this (but the back was a little more green) - seriously, it got hit all the time. When it finally broke I retired it - it's a Christmas ornament now. (I also have done really well with gold spoons.) WOW!!!! Black Copper? :clap Never worked for me so I gave up on it. Then again, opposite side of the country... Well, I should have known from the way I could barely stay awake when I was at work for my meeting. My body rebelled - when I got home, I fell asleep for 3-1/2 hours. Then collected eggs and changed out chick water. And THAT'S IT - no building or lumber tonight. I just can't stand the thought - still tired. I think I'm going to read and go to bed early, and start over tomorrow. - Ant Farm
We only have clear water here.... Except on some of the rivers and reservoirs with both iron content... They are kinda a red stain.
We use a lot of the 1" Gulp minnows, usually chartruese, for Crappie, on a 1/8 oz jig head or lighter.
Yup.... Me too

I'll try and get a pic for you

Red/chartruese jig on one rod; white crank bait on the other.

I have boxes of crank baits similar to that one; pretty good for bass, but I've yet to have a Crappie take one, for some reason. I even throw spinner baits sized specifically for Crappie; great for Bass...not so much for Crappie.

I found myself wondering if it was particular to my lake (I tended to always fish primarily at Lake Calaveras). That being said, I tried lots of other crank baits similar - it was JUST this particular one. Must have been charmed or something...
That sounds like heaven, actually.

I don't get to fish enough. :hit
can you ever get to fish enough?
