EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I will start stashing rifles and shotguns in all the buildings and in easy open bags near trees if I have too..

I feel like I am some survivalist camp exile when I do that stuff. But it may come to that. Also I will keep dogs outside when I am not home and in kennel when I am so I can keep baited traps out. The real traps not the live traps..
You mean you don't run a survivalist camp?

I was always told it was, but that could be something parents and grandparents just told us as kids...Like I told my kids and grandkids..

I am sure it must be mildly at least..Other wise my Grandma would have made some terrible tasting medicine we would have had to eat or rub on our bodies for some illness she was saving us from..........You have not really lived until you are forced to drink wormwood tea.....View attachment 1025783
Like if you cross your eyes they'll stay that way
Or if you crack your knuckles they'll get big

Oh, I see a lot of these plants and know them by a name our family taught us as kids, so it could be something else too. It is amazing I can be this old and not know the real name to so many of the plants and trees here.
I'm finding many of the names of the plants that I was taught are not their real names... Like the thing I was told as a kid was Miner's Lettuce, nope... Doesn't even look sorta close to what google says is the real thing. One of these days I need to pull out the ID books and figure out the real names.

Thankfully all the stuff I was taught was edible was, in fact, edible. I ain't dead yet.

I used to have the kennels on a concrete pad below the house, with woods & undergrowth just beyond. The self-feeders attracted rats, possum, and, worst of all snakes.

Dad happened by one day in time to see me coming up out of the bottom with a rifle in my hand...."Dang, boy; I knew you were out here in the boonies, but I didn't know you had to carry a rifle to take care of the dogs"
