EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I will send them to you

Nope! I'm good. Although, my husband misspoke when he told me that geese killed snakes, he was saying TURKEYS killed snakes, and he didn't mind a big flock of turkeys on our property as long as we didn't have too many Tom's, and they were all nice. Oops.

Oh well, the 5-7 geese I ordered arrive next week. It's my birthday, he can bite me. LOL

They'll be raised, then live in they yard. My sebastapol geese, were 75 each and I'm keeping them with my ducks in a confined space because I don't want to risk them being killed by a dog or run over by a car. The other's I can justify "free ranging" to eat the grass. ^.^

If all turkeys survive to adult hood in our next batch, we will have way more than we need. We'll be eating some toms, and maybe even a hen or two. ^.^

I have a couple of double yolkers in the bator. Most don't make it. I have hatched several though, though usually only one chick survives or is even alive.

So last night I see a pip in the DY. Thinking it would take hours to zip and probably eventually need help, I forgot about it. 4 hours later the shell is empty and there is just one huge damp chick with a HUGE belly. It can hardly walk.
Seems like chick #2 probably died and is inside chick #1.
I have suspected that this has happened before.
This morning it is just fine, waddling around.
