EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

If I had gotten going earlier when it was cooler, I would have gotten more done. I'm going to try to do so tomorrow. As for today, stick a fork in me, I'm done. I even just ordered a pizza (and I like to cook, so that's saying a lot).

Started at 7:00 this morning. Early and grow accustomed to the heat as it goes up sure does help. But you had a handicap with your back so just getting normal stuff done was a chore. :hugs

Y'all down there doing okay in that boiling spaghetti pot of the south? Mid 60s here..

Meatballs....
I had home grown chicken and a brew that I'm working on now that I traded eggs for at the brewery. Yummy

Got a new buckling today, he's at least part Spanish. His name is Armondo.

:yesss:
And double :yesss: :yesss: for the eggs. Local or shipped?

@Phage - How are those billions of eggs you're incubating?
Going to candle tonight :D

Expect lots to be duds as some of the eggs were ancient and/or sat on by a broody for 24 hours.
Never fear though I have replacements ;)

I didn't get collect eggs yesterday but this morning found 14 eggs in the TJ (some sort of nice leghorn) pen!
Not bad for 6 hens!!!!

That pen produces these chicks (half AC). They are even prettier now, and sexable at 3-4 weeks

True, this AM I couldn't get moving - though it eased up by about 10 (which, of course, was when it started to get really hot).

After today, I've decided to give up on the idea of designing a misting system from scratch with PVC and nozzles - I need the misters in there NOW. Everyone was ok today, but they need relief. So I went to Lowes and got more of the flexible Orbit stand-up mister things that I used last year (worked really well). I'll do the measuring and laying out tomorrow, and figure out the lengths of hose I need (and cut and splice).

Cool! Around here, it tends to be tacos or BBQ (REALLY good BBQ). :drool

OK, I need to go lock the young ones up. Hoping to get those auto doors in tomorrow as well, or at least soon...
