EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Purdy st chickens I ever saw lol I figured on asking around to some folks around here that might have them when I get around to building a coop. I wanna be prepared for them first. I will probably wait till next spring since we are still getting everything in order for the ducks. Seems like we need to build Or do something different for them every weekend so far ! I know of a hatchery about an hour away that has the silver ones. But I'd rather have the golden. I could try to order hatching eggs and borrow an incubator. . .

:thumbsup Sounds good. Yeah I like the golds better too though I have about ten silvers at the moment (they are only about 12-14 weeks)

A recommendation, if I may, Shaw.. Old English Game Bantams. They have amazing personalities, a million colours to choose from, they're feed efficient, and are fantastic layers---when they're not broody.
I gotta spend some time learning my breeds. I wouldn't even know what I was looking for or at when I go to buy some!

Ya know it's hot out when... the flies leave.

OUCH!!!!! It only went up to 98F today here - a nice break from yesterday. I draw a line at body temp (above or below) - it's always markedly easier if below body temp outside.

I didn't get EVERYTHING done today, but I DID get all four automatic doors installed in younger coops, which was the most important goal - and I confirmed tonight that they all closed appropriately about 30 minutes after sunset (photo sensor). I also rearranged some of the hoses in preparation for the misters, but didn't actually get them all set up.

Wake up, y'all. Someone tie your tongues up?

Nope, just busy, and now hungry. Laundry going, putting dinner in the oven in a minute, and then baking a loaf of bread for the week...

98 next weekend. 106 to 108 for rest of week. :sick

Soooo pretty! But I guess I want friendly too. . I'm just wanting maybe six hens afraid I'll be in trouble with a roo. No one has complained about my ducks yet but don't wanna push my luck. I want them to be nice and friendly though. I don't need a ton of eggs so mostly going to be pets with the eggs as a bonus lol
