Rooster parade:

Dumbledore first (Cream Legbar) - he jumped out of his paddock and lured two terriers out of my yard away from all the other chickens and into my driveway. They tag teamed him - he's lucky to be alive. He's my hero. (Third image is healed - see the white bits in his tail? That's from the chunk they bit off...

I thought the white on that hen was snow there for a minute lol yes she is a beauty. I just love love love the rich colors of the roo tho. Can you teach a roo to be quiet? Lol

Most of the noise complaints that happen in my neighborhood are about rooster s. And then people usually have to get rid of them

Bummer...

I recently found him a new home. I'm always glad when I can find the bantam roos a good place to stay... Butchering them feels mean, 'cos they're so sweet.

A good rooster is worth his weight in gold. A bad one makes his weight in dinner. :D

Well put!!! :clap

Somewhere, yes, but I'm on mobile and can barely type anything so you're on your own.

I have a spreadsheet that I uploaded/linked here, but I can't find it on my computer right now...

:plbb Snow doesn't look like that, silly southerner.

Roosters? Quiet??
Nope... My neighbourhood has roos sounding off constantly. Nobody notices or cares.

More roosters on parade:

Tank - a very gentlemanly, well behaved Naked Neck. THIS is what one wants when they talk about roosters with good dispositions. He's big, sweet to his girls, protective, and does not EVER misbehave toward me.

This is Severus Snape. He's very protective, very loyal to his girls - a little pushy with them, breeding wise, but not overly so. He occasionally considers challenging me. I tell him how delicious he would be if he did. I think he understands English. (The full photo is when he was 20 weeks - I seem to not have an adult full body pic, but he's now a good bit bigger than that...)

So here's a terrible story about chickens. A couple years ago the guy lived catywampus from me got a bunch of chickens and roo s. The roo s were kinda loud in the mornings but I don't mind it. Other neighbors complained till he got rid of the roo s. Then he would go off and leave the chickens for days and days and wouldn't care for them. Then there were reports he had a pig in his house that wasn't bein taken care of either. The grass grew up tall around the pens and then he got a ticket for tall grass and warned about the animals. His solution? Jerked up all the fence and turned the chickens loose to run all over the neighborhood and get killed by dogs cats or anything else. Some got hit by cars. I tried and tried to catch some of them but it was no use. There were a couple stragglers that survived until winter but I never seen them again after that.
