EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

So here's a terrible story about chickens. A couple years ago the guy lived catywampus from me got a bunch of chickens and roo s. The roo s were kinda loud in the mornings but I don't mind it. Other neighbors complained till he got rid of the roo s. Then he would go off and leave the chickens for days and days and wouldn't care for them. Then there were reports he had a pig in his house that wasn't bein taken care of either. The grass grew up tall around the pens and then he got a ticket for tall grass and warned about the animals. His solution? Jerked up all the fence and turned the chickens loose to run all over the neighborhood and get killed by dogs cats or anything else. Some got hit by cars. I tried and tried to catch some of them but it was no use. There were a couple stragglers that survived until winter but I never seen them again after that.
Poor things.

I couldn't believe he just got away with that! He is in the reserves and leaves for long periods of time and I never saw anyone over there taking care of them. Them chickens were wild. No catching them. We have fox s in town that I'm sure took care of some of them.

That is so horrible. :(

Good thing they are gentle, that thing looks like it could eat your face off!

Yeah, that was a surprise, I was loving on that black olive egger pullet, and Kirk decided he wanted some attention and climbed up. I don't generally let them get that close to my face regardless of disposition - I was lucky that he has taken after his father, very tame and gentle.

@Fire Ant Farm What mix is Snape? That's a crazy looking comb

He actually came directly from Ideal Poultry just the way he is with my batch of Naked Necks. Obviously some non-naked neck blood in there - @Kev was thinking Wyandotte was in there somewhere, I think.

It's a rose comb on steroids, I think it gets like that when it's so hot while it develops... I should get some photos of some of his daughters with weird variations...
