EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Strange things happen where he is involved I've noticed. Does anyone have a REAL answer to wether the shoe shavings are ok for plants or trees lol
I think they'll be fine.

I have a chick that I thought needed assistance hatching. All my other eggs had hatched and this one showed no signs. I worried it may be malpositioned because I had another that died in the shell due to a malposition. I read through the assisted hatching guide and did as it said for a malposition suspicion. This chick does not look ready to hatch as I can still see pretty thick veining. Do I just leave it in the incubator? I chipped away most of the air cell to check but didn't pierce the inner membrane.

Also, if not too late-- coconut oil warmed in the microwave (30 sec to melt, not heat) ... rub on membranes. I rub a little on exposed chick (avoid beak). After the vessels dry, you may be able to put a little on a qtip, and rub a little between the chick and membrane. A little bit can help her move. Return her to the incubator to rest and warm.

Thank you for the quick response! I feel terrible for trying to help but I was sure the chick was in trouble. :(

You have to start somewhere... it'll get better as you have more success. Sometimes you can't stare at the little pip, waiting for evidence that everything is okay--- You have to walk away :barnie. Sometimes I have to do it, too .

Well I just got back from the vet with one of the chickens he got bumble foot and the vet thinks that he also might have a auto immune defincy and he gave us clindamycin is he going to die

Vet would know that better than we do.
I don't know, I think my teenager might lose his feet... if they weren't attached.
My Rugrats would too.
