How does one approach a skunk that has been trapped?

Shalom Benny!

I'm sorry to hear this, I hope you can get the &$*(@

I hope the fox moves on and leaves your flocks alone.

Good to hear!

Once in a great while I might receive an email, but other than that the alerts when I am actually online seem to work.

That stinks, you'd think something called "The Standard of Perfection" might be more careful.

With a 39 and a half foot pole. Actually I have tied a rope to the trap while the skunk was in it due to me being neglectful. Then drag it to water.

Good morning everyone! :frow

Now that I'm all caught up, it's time to get busy with my day. A few chores here, then I'm going to split more logs. :wee

Probably be gone till Tuesday or Wednesday. Enjoy!

Cuddles is shy in the tub....

His feathers are actually rough and discolored from the salve I put on his comb last winter to help preserve it. I was hoping for a molt, it has not happened.

hopefully, a bath will help molt.
Pluck him bald and hope he grows his feathers back?

Way back when we were kids, my brother and I caught a skunk in a fox trap...

It was not pretty. My brother being younger and dumber than me said he could shoot it.

He took the 22 and got about 10 ft from the skunk..

10 feet is too close. I was way back being older and smarter. I saw the yellow green liquid squirt out his butt. Did you know that stuff travels about 20 feet..and that skunks are right on with their aim?

My brother did shot it, before screaming and running to the river..... I went home and told my Dad my brother needed new clothes and was in the river soaking. He wanted me to take the clothes to my brother,, I refused. Dad found this way funnier than Mom did.

I am not sure what happened to his clothes.

The above post is why I hire the neighbour kids to dispose of all skunks I trap.

Yes they are right on with their spray. I've also seen it but was far enough away. Yesterday's skunk is now vulture food as they've already spotted it. I'm on the vultures regular route.

They could be made into delicious chicken stock or chicken noodle soup.
I agree, if I could get my husband to do more then cull them and dispose of their bodies.
He's willing to do it with the turkeys because they have more meat on their bones, but the smaller chickens he feels like it's not worth the effort.

Yes the Cornish X I'm not sure they are modified just very well cross bred.
I've my eye on some on eBay that are not crossed so they say.

I just get them from the feed store (Yay feed store :D) But yea, those are the ones, AND THEY STINK!:tongue (Literally, fowl smeeling, pun intended:ya)
