EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

He is beautiful isn't he. But what a stinker! He is the one I had to help the most at hatch. I held him in front of the heater for a long time to get him warm and I'll never forget when he opened his little eyes and looked at me for the first time! It was love at first sight. He follows me everywhere and I have to be careful not to step on him.
I'm gonna steal him. :love

Just don't sit on the grass down this way or you may get out lovely biting no see ums the chigger :sick
I've heard of them... They sound nasty. :sick

Morning everyone
Dump run today. Trading labor with neighbor for this run.
Flies hate the heat. Seldom see any when the heat sticks around this long.
Beautiful out this am. Will be 106 + today.

My disappointment with the Altsteriers egg size will just have to be. I weighed them today and they are the size they are supposed to be. Good thing as I thought maybe I have hatched pullets eggs and was stuck with smaller eggs.
I'm glad they are normal, but sorry the are small. I am impatiently waiting for next month to see if any of my emerging pullets actually lay a blue egg. Of course, I have a group of six hens with only one laying at the moment. I can't figure that coup out except the two that are finishing chicks they hatched. I guess I will figure out how to worm them while they are down anyway.

Actually getting used to the size. Same on eggs with the group of four hens. The three that went group broody haven't started laying either. 4 chicks still in that pen despite the rooster and fourth hen trying to get them.

Luckily, we get more eggs than we can even use, even with half our flock being broody. lol
Our newest EE-RedSex link - just laid us our first egg, too. lol it was TINY! :O
