EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Good morning everyone! :frow

Sally did mean to get on BYC last evening. She spent her morning cleaning pens, then the house. She went out to eat with the family in the evening then back to her house for a bit. Then she had to chore and do pups, ended up with heartburn and decided to lay down, so she didn't make it online.

57* F at the moment, 77*F expected high. Oh, and some more rain. :he
I'd love to see a picture of the kitchen when it's done. The party sounds fun.
I've only have been taking one dog, the two year old, Clover. They work a bit different and it's easier on me to only work take her as I learn to work with her. Moose isn't fond of the heat anyways. She does good, and I'm getting better working with her. The lessons are really for me, the dogs will either herd or they won't, although there are what are called "push button dogs".

Is all this rain normal for you?
While showing a home Friday a goat herder had approximately 500 goats he was watching in a green belt area. It really isn't green due to no rain and the goats are used as fire prevention. However to keep them contained wherever there was an outlet to the streets he placed a dog then he sat back and watched the goats. Once they've stripped the vegetation they are moved to other areas. It's quite expensive per acre to have done. He usually contains them with some sort of light weight electric fence depending on circumstances.
I could see where just one dog in your case would be easier.

No, this much rain is not normal. They predicted we would have a cool, wet summer, and it seems they were right. Yes, some breeds of dogs are used to contain livestock in an area without fencing, German Shepherd is one breed that is known for that, rather than what people think of when herding livestock.

AN OPEN LETTER TO @dan26552 .....

If you insist on posting these pictures of Goats, when I want a goat as bad as I do, just to hurt me, because of my inability to convince the WWD of the need for goats...and when I can not find one at a price I am willing to pay...

I will have no choice but to post pictures of smashed dux eggs, fried dux eggs and scrambled dux eggs,,,,,just to hurt you back!!!

Sincerely
me...

There's a guy in this area that goes around to different ponds with a dog & a kayak, harassing Canada Geese into relocating. They're a big problem around here; there are so many farm ponds & corn fields that they stay here year 'round, moving from one pond to another at will. A lot of communities have parks, a lot of which have ponds, and the geese make a real mess.

Maybe buy the geese a ticket to Minnesota!

Our farm was 'stolen" by the federal government in 1969 to make a goose refuge. (I have a shell of what I should have left)....They "bought" (stole) 32,000 acres, kicked the farmers out, closed the area, so people could not go into it, Let it go "natural" .. planted no corn or grains, ripped out the roads and bridges, to make a better goose refuge..

50 years later they have 7 geese living here.....

Another complete success manage by the bureaucrats..

I am sure they would appreciate your geese..

Who would have thought you could not get a goose refuge to work 200 miles east of the fly way?

Yes, Canadian Geese are bad here too. I've heard of golf courses getting Border Collies to chase them away.

The ineptness of the government knows, no bounds.

On the last one Please use your imagination to be appalled.

It is really hard to find broken dux eggs on google..for some reason they think all eggs should be brown or white..

There was even one showing a newly hatched dux with a egg broken neatly in half behind it...The egg was light brown..
(city people!!!arrrrgh!)
