EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Update : Vet said it's "kinky back syndrome" and duck should live, but probably won't be able to walk again. As long as we give her food in a bowl and change her water occasionally in the outdoor pool, she shouldn't just keel over and die on us, if we want her to live.

:frow Long time no see Miss!
I gotta ask...would you want to keep her alive if she won't ever be able to walk again?

Why would we euthanize a duck that's fine hanging out in her little pool just because she can't walk?

She's not suffering. Unless she's suffering, why would I euthanize her? I have the room to keep her. It doesn't bother me, and the kids like the excuse to feed her from a bowl. Now that she can't get away, my daughter's very content to go out there every day and feed her by hand, that's just the kind of my 6 year old is. lol

We wouldn't eat her - so her death would be just because I didn't want to take care of her, and she's not a problem.

I should add....
I assumed by not walking...she couldn't use her legs...and I assumed ducks use their legs to swim..so I was thinking she wouldn't be able to get around at all.

I don't know ducks.

She can float, and move around in the pool, she just can't support her weight to walk.
