how else could you cure ham if you didnt salt it?
You can only Cook it once.. Reheating it will ruin it without some other additives. Our left over un cured ham (smoked in the water pot smoker) is cut up into other dishes like bean stew, pork and beans etc. Sodium nitrate is what they make bombs out of.. We seldom try to use it. Although we have a pork belly soaking in it right now..:confused:
If you can get pork belly where you are,:old cut it into 3/4 to an inch thick(uncured) and dip it in an egg wash. Then bread it with shakin bake or panko. Fry it in a skillet and serve as a country fried steak with white gravey, mash potatoes com on the cob..

Only thing I know about pigs, is that Sara, eats everything, including baby chicks if she steps on them on accident. She also loves belly scratches, and her pool. She's also tougher than snot and will fight the goats for her feed, if they get pushy with her, even if they are bigger than she is!!! :p
Give her a chance & she'll also eat an injured piglet..HER OWN
