EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

How much are yours?

The 40 quart cooler I usually buy is $14.99. And that's the cheapest/sturdiest I have found so far. This new one looks very promising at $7
You looking at a $7 cooler, or a $7 incubator? You said incubator to start with.
I've never priced a 40qt cooler, but my styro incubator with turner was well over $100 over 30 years ago!

Good morning everyone!!! :frow

That's fantastic that things are "starting" to get back to normal for you.:hugs Lots of extra work one doesn't need or want.o_O

Benny, I'm glad you found out that the eggs are not what you want. Google translated the info on the link so I could read about the types of hens. Very cool! Those look the very same as the production chickens one can get here...even the same names. I like your girls much better!. :clap

Mr. Sterile, I like that! Should you attempt a try at that hatching, I wish you the very best! :highfive: I'd be watching that closely. :caf

I just found some nice looking styro incubators at the feed store in the town I was bussing. They're only $7 dollars!!!:woot The ones I have here were double that. I was going to stop in and get a measurement on them yesterday, but I was too sore to want to walk extra down those steps. I also forgot to bring a large bag to put it in...I wasn't about to bring a clean stryo incubator on a dirty bus. :sick I'll check them out next time I'm there with my own vehicle.

Right now I'm waiting for the pain meds to kick in so I can get up to make breakfast and get my chores down. Part of my day today will be setting all of my traps. Some ground predator got in and predated 3 of the roosters (2 were culls) So something's gonna die. I put up salt bags on step in posts last night until I was soaked. I'm still cold...lol. I'm sitting here right in front of the heater. It was down to 5C (32F) last night.
Thanks, me too like them, 5C IN SEPTEMBER?! If we are lucky we get it in late January or early February! Now it is 21:10 and we have 27C°.

It did get the one human aggressive roo. But it got my big EE/whatever else guy and my very first hatched Silkie guy. Not happy about the way any of them died...I never want any livestock to suffer. It appears it was quick. I'll see more in the light of day...but looks like it was pretty instant because they're laying exactly where they'd sit for the night.

Do you have skunks there? Vicious killers that don't climb. Took the heads off of 12 of mine 9 the first night 3 the next. My trap is always set after that.

Oh geeze...did I write incubator?:he I need to go back to bed.
I apologize...I'm meaning cooler. I make my own incubators.

I know! We were just 31C last week? And that was a 6C with cold rain. My roosters in the pens don't usually go into shelter....so I went in and put them into their houses last night. It's 8C right now with a strong wind. I like the cold but I'm freezing to death. That's too much temp swing for someone feeling crappy already...lol.

Omigosh...you have the answer.:hugs That makes the most sense from where it came in. We do have skunks...this would be our first kill from one. They usually just get into my feed.
Skunks are easy...I'll have it trapped in no time. :yesss: It'll be a two stage attack; inner and outer perimeter.

I am dreading the fishers. My uncles dog killed one at his place so I know they are in the area. No experience with them...yet. I'd like to keep it that way.;)
