Nothing makes as good compost like cow poop... Dux feathers take away from making a dux the perfect compost..BUT they will compost...
I'll admit I don't use any chicken/duck/guinea manure. I spread it separate because the dirt is being spread back over the yard, I'm building it up in case of another flood. But we have two days worth of cattle manure that's hauled out every year an I always commandeer the best of that to make my compost. It's been so darn wet in the fields I haven't been able to turn it. So I son't feel comfortable about using the poultry manure in case it hasn't properly heated all of it. Safety first...:wee

I just hope you're not disappointed with your new weed whacker. DW bought one 'cause my gas job is too heavy for her. Actually, she's bought 2; first one didn't last long. The current one, a 18v, only has a single string head, so it takes longer than a double string. At least it's convertible from battery to electric, but then she has a cord to contend with. I used it the other day for a while; didn't want to fool with going after my gas job & refueling it. Didn't take but a few minutes 'til I was using my Husqvarna gas job.

When I talk about Dux compost, I am talking whole dux and not just the poop....

I'd like to clarify that I didn't kill the push mower or weedwhacker. Age did.
I was going to call a landscaper to deal with everything. But I ended up ordering a new weed eater. I still will ask a landscaper if he has a mower he wants to replace. Reasonably priced of course.
My new whacker is a Black and Decker battery powered. It will be nice having an easy to use one. Even if I do have to keep the battery charged. It's also a plus that I don't have to mess with gasoline or oil!
I have one of those. I love it. However I will say it is not very powerfull if your trying to chop tall or thick grass or weeds. It works good for our yard we keep mowed. . not so good on the back lot where the weeds get tall.
