EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Fun! I will have chicks in a couple of weeks. I don't normally hatch now, but I want some good layers out there by spring. May hatch some cuties later. I have the red sex link in now.
I’m in the middle of or close to the end of a staggered two more today.

I am seeing doubles. I need to get on the computer.. my tablet has limited pics.. Nice pic.

View attachment 1151908 Help please! I’m having a lot of difficulty with my seramas. One was shrink wrapped and had a curled foot that I’ve bandaged to keep straight. However baby is falling all over. I can’t get him off his back. Should I put him in a small dish?
Second problem almost all of my eggs are malpositioned. When should I help them? Some are opening at the wrong end etc.

The best thing to do is shut the lid/door...walk away...don't let any more moisture out....and look at them in 24 hours...not all will make it...but more will than if you try to "help" them.

I have had some rough hatches. Hang in there. Keep them warm. Let them dry. Step back and take a deep breath. You can dip the back flipper's beak in vitamins/electro but don't leave it in with it. in case of a flip in the liquid. Splayed leg can be corrected most of the time.

I try not to use sticky band aids because the stress they cause un sticking them. look at my perfered method if you have a chance. The link is above.
Sounds like you had a humidity issue. Again.. hang in there.. stay cool. :hugs

The little gals one foot was just slightly curled. I placed clear medical tape on.
I have them warm temp is 99.5 and humidity is 62%.
I’ll leave them be and just keep checking. Three are doing perfect! And another is pipped and looking good thus far. This was my first serama hatch so I’m happy that I have at least a few healthy little ones running around!
