EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

If everything is rock bottom YOU DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM because all your expenses are rock bottom too!
Feed prices have gone up while hang weight prices have dropped. Only big time farmers whom can buy feed in mass bulk prices can profit. But they also collect the animals excrement, wash and sift it and re feed the un digested grains back to their stock. use growth hormones/steriods and other chemicals to maximize growth in a short period of time to reduce the overhead cost of feed.

They do, but it is almost impossible to get over the bureaucracy!
And if you want the truth they are proteating their farmer freind. ... they have decided that importing eggs can ruin their livelihood! That is way we can't have , by low, more then 10 comerciale white chickens!
Oh, government corruption.

There were pig auctions when I had my pigs, but there were no more soon after. I think there may be a buyer of slaughter hogs, but you must be with a company or raise contract hogs for one of the large companies to sell to them. Everyone with hogs sell privately I'd assume. It's so sad. Hogs used to be a viable income for a lot of people.
We have only one here. I think it is the second Friday of every month, desparate farmers unloading their under fed stock to private buyers.
Now in the spring, The southeasten youth fair has FFA/4H animals selling for HUGE MONEY.. Even Publix attends and purchases as a public relations gesture. A handi cap child's pigs sold at over $850 one year. Our daughters at $650 (cost 650 to raise it too)
Big difference when selling prices when the cause is for children.

 I'm putting a closet in one corner, but that's it. No dividers; this is for my main flock---I'll be building multiple breeding pens and growout pens once my budget isn't bleeding from the gills any more.

Pstt... Benny... There is nowhere in the US/Canada that chickens will go for that much. Unless it's rich city slickers buying Ayam Cemanis.
Not Florida ... Ripley's believe it or not!!!!:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau

If you think you steak tastes like crap, it may be the feed you are tingling your taste buds with..:drool

I leave & suddenly you're happy. WTH? o_O :hugs
There are two possible reasons.
What if we're terribly sad and life is a misery?
Mike actually has the right idea. Aside from teaching the song to Duckling, I haven't done the corresponding movement in over twenty years. It stemmed from not being happy while the song was being sung, but knowing better than to show it.
Actually, in Sunday school it's "If you're saved, and you know it." My mother had me leading the song. :somad
Tom Petty RIP.. 62 yrs old :(
:ep Oh no! :hit

They can always use the quality issu. Small herdsmen have to be professional on the trade and produce the best animal they can. Pepole that surch for high quality products, like me, will pay more for good quality.
Our customers as well. If they call and we quote a price and they say it is too high, Hub tells them to go look at those dirts cheap hogs listed and come here before you buy.. then we will wheel & deal.. Some do. Sometimes if we see an abundance of ads in our market, we pose as buyers to check out the competition. We see gross living conditions, under fed animals, sores and sickness not separated, poop in food dishes. Gross conditions.
mismanaged herds.
not all of them but quite a few.
