EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Tractor Supply is where I bought my grow out pens. These are great for babies, but not for full size hens. I paid $90 for this one (coupon for store opening). The extension on the right was $75.View attachment 1162939

Again, this was great for the tiny babies. Once they got bigger, I had to buy a bigger one -

The larger was $350 I think. They have held up pretty well. They are relatively easy to clean. The larger one MIGHT work for 4 or 5 chickens. But the smaller one isn't good for anything but small babies.

Were they worth the money? Yes, because I didn't have the patience to build them myself.
They also work really great for breeding Old English Game Bantams or other similar small breeds. They're so tiny. Hug an OEGB! :hugs :wee:yesss:

PLease PLEase PLEAS PLEASE don't misconstrude my post...
My intentions were that I am at the wrong end of trying to make a buck... We are semi retired & looking for an easy way out, but we channel our direction azz backwards... We should market portable housing along with the chickens because the novelty out weights the reality of our direction?
My nose is not snooty... just searching.. :):celebrate

I never EVER mean anything negative at all about your post - I was just thinking that these coops are pretty flimsy and much smaller than I wanted. Nobody else wanted me to buy them, but I didn't want to build another one, so I took the easy way out. I totally am in awe of anyone that builds these fancy coops for their birds!!

The wind blew my little one over! I have to fix it. Soon. Or at least eventually.:p

Everyone has me thinking about my coops. I think if we make a firm base of 2x4s...it'll keep the entire structure solid. :clap There's that 20/20 hindsight again.:th...

Wow, I have had to tie down the trampoline, and the awnings we have out back, but I never thought one of these would blow over. The roofs on these are HEAVY. Plus I've added extensions on both. The little one would be the most likely to blow over, but these are just behind me house, so they are protected a bit from the wind. I can imagine they would just fold if they blew over.

Out of all of that...the only thing that occured to me to ask is...what is a penny whistle?
