EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Y'all are not going to believe this. I just spilled coffee on myself. And it wasn't down my shirt. It was more... ummmm. I spilled coffee on the couch between my legs. It wasn't hot, so you have permission to laugh.
The part you won't believe is that I didn't get up right away. If I'd spilled water, I would have gotten up right away, but it's coffee! So I sat here for several minutes before realizing that it would take forever for the couch to dry if I didn't soak up the coffee before it soaked in.
:hide I think I have a problem.

The proper method for calculating hatch rates:

Number of eggs placed in incubator: (X)

Divide the number of eggs that hatch (Y) by (X)

This will give you a basic starting rate (N)

Then you have to make adjustments for information gathering errors.

To use these adjustments you multiply N by the adjustment percentage.

Shipped eggs adjustment................. 1.64
Eggs that have been transported by motor vehicle 1.25
Eggs containing DNA for webbed feet .002
Eggs containing DNA for flat bills .32
Turkey eggs 1.34
Show bird eggs (non-webbed) 1.57
Show bird eggs (webbed) .1
Using a foam incubator 2.3
Incubators in States starting with a M 1.75
VWN wilderness area 0.4
South of the Mason-Dixon line 0.93

After making these adjustments you will get the actual hatch rate....

As a bonus after you announce these rates you will be qualified to be a Global warming proponent.

These are true and tested to be accurate by the majority of professional hatchers in this area.

Yeah I did! Kilt him ded! Saw him the 1st time yesterday through binoculars, the "white" looked to me just like the tusk on a wild boar. It's open season on groundhogs here; tired of them digging burrows under the outbuildings & helping themselves to the corn meant for the deer. That guy had some serious dentures. Don't know why the top two go off to the side like that.

The only time we can't shoot groundhogs is the week of deer gun season.

So update, I woke up at 3 & checked on the chicks. One was fully zipped for I don’t know how long. I waited for half an hour but it’s movements just weren’t very effective. There was another chick slowly zipping too so I went back to bed. Over 3 hours later those 2 chicks still hadn’t hatched. The one that had been zipped for at least 4 hours the movements were pretty feeble. I put a warm moist paper towel over the half zipped chick and helped the other one out. But I was afraid the other would shrink wrap. So now 13 chicks, 5 very quiet eggs with no pips, night 22. Not sure what to do now. I need some more chick pictures but here’s the first.

Congratulations on the chicks!

yes it is my B-Day.. Thank you for all the love and wishes... I just didn't want another Facebook ambush.. I heart you all & thank you..;) happy 28 again:eek:

Happy belated birthday.
