EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Toxicology report in.. My Buck got sick from eating medicated poultry grower feed. He busted into the Turkey area a week or so ago and I didn't think anything of it. We are medicating the Turkeys for harvest in November..... When my Vet just called, she asked if I feed my Goats Chicken feed... that threw me thru a loop. Never a single dull moment.. ever.

We use Dawn in concentrated form on the urine stained hair.. The Buck pees all over himself during mating season to attract the does. It gets nasty. Summer in not so bad... In the Fall.... pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeww! lordy lordy.. He will rub his pee soaked body on everything in his path in an effort to attract a mate. I have just under 20 goats & only 1 Buck now.. thank goodness. They fight and compete during mating season as well.
Oh gods that must be wretched!!! I though you just wanted to get the yellow stain out. Ew ew ew. Goats are not for me!

I'm so sorry to have been away for so long - I'm fine, thought my life is somewhat disorganized at the moment. Chickens are fine - a few losses, generally doing well, a few escape artists. There there's Muffin, my ~8lb S&G NN cuddle muffin (hence the name). Every day when I'm changing their water, she just patiently stands in front of or between my feet (or on them) waiting to be picked up and snuggled.

I want to come back and get back in the groove, but this is such an incredibly busy time for me at work. I'll try, though, maybe over the weekend. Thanks to @daxigait and @BantyChooks for PM'ing me. :hugs

Meanwhile, to amuse you, here is a my photo of chicken math, the desktop edition:

Off season my buck will stick his thingy out to the side and it only hits the front legs a little.. When the nannys are in heat and he senses it... It is a pee fest. Fermone city.. We are done breeding. Full capacity. This is our first year since having them we have not bred. Our Buck does not agree with that decision. Best to keep him isolated from the ladies until they extinguish the need to parade and squat at the fence line, teasing the poor Buck... All he can do now is golden shower himself in hopes that a young Doe finds it's way into his lock down prison. Poor dude has Blue bawls...

He stands at the electric fence line and stares across the paddocks all day.. The ladies are over an acre away but he smells them still. If there wasn't electric wires, he would hammer the fence down..

I am lucky right now I only have one mature buck and he's in the boar pen. The others are two Nubian bucklings that are eight months old so while they stink it's not like they will stink next year and since they've been raised as bottle babies together they are buddies and it's been easy so far. They are ok with my boar Kiko prospect from this spring too.
