EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

OE meaning Olive Eggers, AMS that were under FBCM. HENS ARE BLUE, So the eggs will get much darker Olive Green in the next generation under this FBCM Roo I have.

These eggs SHOWN BELOW are from my other two French black marans hens, see how the color is all over the place and splattered right now? This I am not sure if normal or what! @ronott1 @ChickenCanoe @daxigait so I am wondering if I should sell off these hens or what! image is weird, those eggs in the back are a green color not tan and the brown color is off too??? strange image!

The dark speckles are normal. I do not know if breeding would necessarily change that. It does not bother me. I do have some pictures of Marans eggs that were entered in an Heirloom festival over on the coast several years ago so you can see award winning eggs

They did enter speckled eggs!

All the fish folks on here - does anyone have fresh water tanks? My fresh water tank was neglected for a bit. My grow light had burned out and was replaced with a standard fish tank light. I only have plecos in the tank for algae, and I now have these kind of pretty algae poofs. They attach to one piece of gravel. My chickens love them, but it's a pain to peel each one off the gravel. Can I throw it in the coop and let the chickens sort out the gravel? Should I not feed this slime to the hens?

I didn't think to take a photo - here's one I found online (I like the lizard too). This is sort of what the algae looks like. In my tank, it's only along the bottom, and it anchors to ONE piece of gravel. It isn't on any of the structures that I saw.

where were you yesterday? get the big one?

Husband got a doe early this AM at his dads but is still in stand waiting for buck and another doe. I am thankful he got the meat this year. two would be really nice
Same place I've been most of today, and will be again shortly; out in the blind where I can read but not reply. I've seen deer every day since the season opened a week ago yesterday, but nothing I've really wanted to shoot.

Well looks like the snakes are going to the only person to contact us. We're giving them for free since she has to drive five hours to get them, but she has something like fifteen corns already so I know she's experienced enough to care for them.

Going to take a look at a crib our secretary is selling. Her kids are too old for the crib now and she won't be having more so we're going to see if we want it. If it's not white I can always paint it but if it's bigger than 60X120 cm then we won't be taking it. She has other stuff that we could get though if that happens, I ain't opposed to hand-me-downs. It's just the size is the most important because the sheets are only so big. If it's Too large then we're going to go ahead and get the IKEA crib I want. Either way we're buying a new mattress because I'm paranoid about bedbugs and stuff.

Sunday I'm gonna attempt to get weeding and stuff done in the garden and run. Nettles are taking over again and it's a never-ending battle. Also need to cut back the dead corn canes and clean out the dead cucumbers, then I need to pull the last of the peppers and bag the plants so they survive the winter. Also working on decluttering and cleaning the house for the next two weeks since I begin my maternity leave on the 30th and only have ~2 weeks to prep for Honeybee's arrival.

Pretty fishy!! can you tell gender? I hope she works out in there! what sorta color changing?

Very nice, that coloring is stunning. I am not sure about processing at that age, @ronott1 and Ralphie would know.
if you can ship them out I am sure you can sell them off, with the right advertising, most of my sales are through FB chicken groups and farm groups, and of course CL as a back up.

I can't tell the gender, because males and females look alike. It doesn't matter to me... I love angelfish and have never owned one.

Thanks, I like his color also. I'm very active on the RIR threads on FB, and an active member of the Rhode Island Club of America, so I am in contact with people all over the nation, even other countries. I already have an order for a pair from a lady in Idaho, and when I start advertising, I think the rest will go fairly easily.

@Ur-ur-ur-urrr They will be tough at that age but can be cooked low and slow or pressure cooked. You can also smoke them at like 230F---low and slow.

They taste amazing though!
Thank you for the reply. I'm not sure if I'll have any left over to eat, but it's nice to have a plan in place in case I do! I appreciate it!!!

Another fish addict! Hooray! :highfive: Do you just do Salt? Your Koran is gorgeous! It's a Pomacanthus semicirculatus right? I love the babies best! :love
Glad to hear your son is going down a better path now! That must have been a hard road. :thumbsup
Hi, Veny! Yes, I only do salt water. I did fresh water for many years, but grew bored with it. The possibilities seem limitless with salt, so it holds my attention much better!

Shalom Joey!
In the case of the rooster he will not do the final cut YOU WILL make the cutt that will final for the rooster! (In case he won't get to the SOP! :))
Shalom, Bennie! How is my Israeli friend?

Yes, this rooster will either meet the SOP, or he will meet the chopping block! :lau

I think he will be very close to the SOP, so I won't kill him. If I don't keep him, I will sell him. He has very good genes, so he will be useful to someone.

I always thought salt was too much work so never looked into it, though I do admire all the beautiful tanks. I think I like the corals and anemones more than the fish.:yesss: I just shut down all my tanks (moving soon) but I used to do a lot of planted tanks and grew out and sold live plants and neocaridina davidi shrimp (yellow, orange, and fire reds). And of course I had pinkie pie, my betta. Here's my some of my tanks before I tore them down.
