EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Mike/Sally, Bird blocked the ceiling off and now the are perching on the 4 twelve perches instead of just using them for a ladder to get to the rafters. AND changed positions of the egg boxes.. They are made at me.

Ralphie, Hmmmmm, cold snap, my definition? When somebody posts a pic of newborn chicks and someone coldly snapps a crack that if they were dux, the look better if their faces under water... Burrrrrrrrrr.. that was a cold one baby... :lau That was Winter Warlock stuff...:old:lau:lau:lau:lau

That's probably it, they should start again soon.

Sunday we're going out to the only open strip mall in our region to check out decor for Christmas. I would have made more of a Halloween effort this year if I'd not been pregnant and the baby was already here, but as that wasn't the case I'm going all out on St. Nicholas Day and Christmas. Lots to do, just want to do it before Honeybee gets here because I'm worried I won't have the energy to do it after.

Convinced the husband it's easier to buy a fake tree so we don't have to cart out the dead tree at the end of the season and get needles EVERYWHERE. Also buying more lights since the lights from last year aren't long enough to fully cover the tree. Need to repair the wreath because the fake berries ended up not being very sturdy, but I did get the new cinnamon and salt dough ornaments finished weeks ago. As long as everything is finished before 6 December we're golden.

Well, still no pips on the remaining kindergarten eggs. I will go pick up the chicks tomorrow. Hopefully the last two eggs have a miraculous comeback and hatch tonight but I doubt it. :barnie

Each night, one rooster roosts with the bantams. It's not any particular rooster. They switch around. I find it interesting.

I wonder about that, you would think they would roost in the same place every night, yet every evening I hear all this discussion from the chickens about where they are roosting.

Well going to call it a night. No trick or treaters here tonight. No surprise there, there hasn’t been any in 17 years of living here.

:frow

:frow No trick or treaters here ever either.

Anybody know a good disease expert on here that I could tag in a post? Also, how expensive is a chicken necropsy?

Time to try to ambush Bambi; blind should be relatively warm by now.

Good luck!

Good morning!
I hope all are well.
Speaking of that @meltel any news? I have been praying for you.

Hello Dax! :frow

I have seven Boar ( five bred at the end of September, and two went in with the buck Sunday), and I have six dairy already bred with three more coming up in the next week or so to go. Thus, a grand total of 16 bred.

You raise any of the boars to eat yourself, or sell them all?
You're going to have plenty of milk!

I just sell the kids I may end up keeping one to try my own goat meat. The dairy will give me a lot of milk but I had two good does come back CAE positive so I will have to pull their kids and bottle feed them. I also have a bottle baby coming from a big show Farm. I usually only keep two does to milk for drinking the rest I just let them raise their kids. I keep two so that if one gets sick I still have one for milk and I just share with them if they have 2 kids I sell one kid as a bottle baby and then I leave them with one baby and milk just once a day.

How is the chicken market where you are? It is slow here. I had planned to move half a dozen heads or so to get them out of the way before winter, but they are not selling. Interestingly the cock did.
