EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

The maddening thing is if all my female birds were laying (they're all under 3 years of age, by the way) I could be getting two dozen eggs a day. Instead I'm celebrating over 6. Some birds haven't laid since August.
I'm down to 5 layers, one about 3. I'm ecstatic if I get 4; usually get 3.

Wow, talk about needing to set all the eggs!
I was getting ready to start setting some of their eggs when they quit. The eggs weren’t quite big enough yet. Frustrating to say the least. Then the roosters which were supposed to be all white moulted with brown tipped feathers. They weren’t very long lived either. 2 years max is what I could expect out of them. Too many strikes against them.

Ouch. That's especially bad for their price. I thought about getting a few and seeing how good they really tasted but they're super hard to find here.

Wow, that's rough for their cost.

Save your money. They taste like chicken. These were from friend on eBay. He had same experience and doesn’t have them anymore.

I’ll see if I can find some pictures of them. The roosters were really quite pretty just not what they were supposed to be. Fortunately my cost per bird was minimal due to hatching them myself. Out of 12 shipped eggs 6 hatched. I think the bid plus shipping was only $25-30. It was fun to try but I wouldn’t do it again.
