She had just gone to bed. I thankfully had been in the living room rather than doing dishes. Sister is bringing her husband (a little over an hour) tomorrow to deal with it.
 Too true!
Duckling wanted to go outside, and catch a rooster (Stephen Tyler is out) and kill it today. I mean, she was racing to the door!
Really glad you are both ok.

I process when no one is home.

They don't see you out of the window?

I guess I am odd that way. I watched my Mom process rabbits before I could talk. Apparently when I was about 3 and our cat had kittens I said "How cute! When do we get to eat them..."

I turned out fine...I think....

:gig:gig
I used to process inside. Let’s just say the whole thing was moved outside and there wasn’t a vote. Also changed the way I process due to the move. So much quicker.

I am down to six roosters. I’m keeping the bantam of course, and one SPR. Three Silver Pencil Rocks and Steven have to go. I have never had a rooster this long before. Steven will be three in a few weeks. The Rocks are about two. I think I processed or sold all of the others by 16 mos.
If you had seen Duckling the day that I cooked our first duck... I showed her the duck outside the back door, and she pet him. I asked her if she wanted to eat him. She was so excited at the idea! She helped me prepare the one already dressed inside. Ate it with pride. Yes. I do believe she can handle watching me kill a bird. I think she will see it soon.
I have six less roosters today. And six hens. Saved two hens. Two too many.

Reminds me of that PETA propaganda, saying that if you give a baby an apple and a bunny it will not eat the bunny. What? Have they ever seen a baby that's just learnt some motor control? :gig It will try and taste both.

I have a silkie cock that's reaching three in a month. I no longer have a use for him, but there is no way I can bring myself to eat him. Best cock I've ever owned---just the wrong breed.

Why not?

That is what sinks are for after all. I use the sink for that and also washing chickens from the store, cutting fat off of beef and pork. It is not much different really

I have never understood the romantic notion that you had to do stuff like this outside with the bugs!

I take it you have a garbage disposal.
