EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

hey y'all! Question for you..... How (if you've had them) have your ducks and chickens gotten along in the past/present?

We are having a debate on adding on to the flock and my sister wants a couple ducks.

Also, if we put day old chicks and ducklings in the same brooder, how would that fair?

:frow Long time no see. I have 9 ducks in a flock of 35 as of now; they get along just fine. Just make sure you have multiple water stations because ducks get a tad possessive of them.

I have done it no problem. However, I recommend not using a typical brooder for ducks; in quantities of more than one they quickly become messy little fiends.

They got/get along great! The ducklings became the surrogate parents (crazy since Pekin aren’t maternal). They didn’t even swim until they were done brooding them.
