EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Someone want to tell me why incubators cost so much? I thought they made a standard 7-egg incubator without bells and whistles for $35 or so. It would be worth it for these small hatches. The cheapest small incubator was $139

I have a large hatch coming up on Sunday. And I have a question that I could really use some advice. Some of the eggs are mine, some my friends. As they are all hatching in the same bator (the other is in use and not on lock - down yet), is there a way I can safely open and mark the chicks? I was thinking a regular marker without odor, quickly making a mark on the chicks legs? Any thoughts, ideas?

Put the eggs in zipped lingerie bags now.

My daffodils are actually popping up.
Daffodils have come and gone here. Fact we have a place here called Daffodil Hill it’s a tourist trap but a fun place to visit. They planted 15,000 daffodil bulbs the hail storm we had damaged all and they won’t open for this year.
First poppy out today.
