Mine probably aren't developed either, but just in case....

Exciting is seeing Mom with babies on her back, babies poking their heads from under her wings, Mom taking them out to play at a few days old...
No heat lamps. No peeping all night. No cleaning the brooder.

I know! :love I'm trying so hard not to get excited over something that probably wont happen.

When we hatched them in the bator only two of them developed. The first one just busted out of the shell in one big blob right in front of us. It was exhilarating! The second one struggled forever with tiny bits of shell for hours. It was torture. If these hatch under Broody & we walk out there to find chirping fluffballs I might actually have a heart attack.

Anybody out there still hatch under a broody anymore? :pop I stuck 6 potentially fertile eggs under a broody a few weeks ago & I'm having trouble finding info on what to do if they accually hatch. So far everything I've found is incubator related or dealing with assisting. Does anybody know of a broody 101 link???
Don't overthink it; hens been hatching & rearing chicks all by their lonesomes for several years now with no assistance from humans. They have a decent track record.

I've let my hens hatch some eggs.

Here's one of my ladies.

I need to butcher 2 EE roo's who keep getting into my silkie pen and over mating my poor girls. :( All my silkie ladies look like they are featherless on the back, the only one they don't overmate is my cochin hen and it's because she's not agreeable to them because they are too rough. She only mates with my silkie roos.

I told Duckling that dinner was not to be an issue. She would like it, and she would eat it regardless.
She got excited about the stuffed shells, but the cheese stuffed bread was a hard no.
She took one look at the bread, and asked, “what’s this?!” She snatched it off the counter, and devoured it. It took forever to eat the pasta. She agreed she liked it, but didn’t want to chew. :he
Eating cheese before putting it on the shells... and after!
