After a much colder than normal spring, it was 85 two days ago and 80 yesterday. Tomorrow night will be below 30F. I think that will be the latest killing frost for this area in my lifetime. The apricots are farthest along. I hope they make it.

I used to go to this thread when I had questions. I've had many broody hens now but if I had any issues I would ask there.

Good luck with your hatch! I have eggs under a broody right now too, due to hatch on the 25th. Post pics when yours hatch.

I have three broodies in a my small coop of ten hens right now.

Well, I'm not the person who can slit a rooster's throat normally, but this asshole rooster, just hurt me. I even whacked him with a board when he kept coming at me and chased him until he decided not to **** with me anymore, but his father is a very protective roo who'd never think once about going after a human. I've been asking my husband to cull off all our extra roosters, I have about 6 that need to go, I think I need to go take care of this myself. I just hate wasting meat and hubby thinks it's too much work try to save the meat off these roosters

Do you have a local chicken swap that's what I do I just call them over and sell them to the Asian population in the Mexican population for three or five bucks I don't care just take them as I get the gas for the trip.

Just lost the roof off the 12 x 20 egg house. And the roof on the 10 x 20 breeder house. Not a very good situation. Tree branches are like missiles right now.

Exactly 30 days old Farm Innovations incubator just died. Ice cold eggs. Gotta love it. Eggs wrapped up in a towel and headed to the store for the next piece of ___.

I found my candler; about half sorry I did. Out of a dozen, there are 1 or 2 clear, & a couple that don't show any air cell at all, on either end. Danged shells are so thick I can't begin to determine anything, except air cells.
