EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I have not seen deer on my property since shortly after moving in. I assume it was because of human and canine activity.
This one was happy as can be for about half an hour.

Now I suddenly remember I need to cover the apple tree.
And soon. Apple tree branch here bent from the weight of apples on it. I’ve knocked several off in hopes of getting it back up. Deer are all over here fruit trees are behind cyclone fencing.

I did learn though even if you're too busy to do anything else if your get a coon attack (I had a hen be too stupid to get in the coop)
and I was too busy to count heads one night. I heard her screaming went out and rescued her he tore into her back pretty good. I just dumped a bunch of blue kote on it and put her in the coup. I thought, sink or swim, I'm out of it. I've got no energy to spend on anything extra. She survived.

He was a big Coon too I don't think I've ever seen one that big. he was over 3 ft long and just as body. He got to live to fight another day though, cuz he ran up the board into the corner of the barn and I couldn't shoot him without putting a hole in the roof of the barn because anything I had to shoot with would have gone through him and through the tin too.

I just spent an arm and a leg buying All Flock in preparation for the ducklings. I vow to hunt down brewers yeast in the future. Ducklings are too needy.

I understand, I am buying chick feed right now I have something like 20 some hens and I'm getting 5 eggs a day everybody on the world is Broody I keep trying to steal what few eggs they legs I don't want any more chicks! I want eggs! They're about to get the line, off of your head applied to them.

Hi Dax. Been missing you. Sorry for the dilemmas. I sold many of mine. Didn’t want to take the time to process 50 of them. No more broodies at least the last time I looked. :yesss:

Hello! I really have missed you. I’m glad you popped in. I keep you in my prayers.

No pictures yet. Aretha Franklin is expected as early as Friday. She has an unknown number, but I’m guessing six. Janice Joplin is due about a week later. Janice (I swear I didn’t know about the nest until it was too late) has 18 eggs. Tomorrow I’ll have to get small hole fencing put up. I’ve been trying to think about which type would work best. I’ll know for sure when I actually do it. I also had to decide on how much to fence off. I’ve decided to start at the back, and see how far I get. I’ll keep enough fencing to block off what I can’t baby proof.
