EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Yes that will work as well if you’re ok with a roost dividing the cage. It might make it difficult to get to the other side though.
That's the only drawback, but I can live with it 'til the rails straighten out, which with all the rain we're having keeping the wood wet shouldn't take too long. No eggs from that pen, either, at least for now; could become a brooder pen.

I considered putting only a h.d. silver tarp over the stock panel, but I'll feel better with 2x4 welded wire sandwiched in there, just in case.

See the bow in that top rail? Same on the opposite side. Green lumber, I guess. Any way to pull it out? I'm thinking maybe a ratchet strap, or allthread.
3/4" angle iron fitted onto the 2x4. The 2x4 has limited strength in the direction you fastened the panel to them. If they were installed flat, they would have more strength. And you would need the "crown" faced to the center as well. A quick fix would be iron angle. Pre drill holes in the iron and screw them on. A ratchet strap or a come along will be needed temporarily to get the bow out. But after the angle is mounted, remove the strap.
