EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

The problem with broodies they tend to add eggs. If this happened it may not be late and hatch later. If it were me I would not help at this point. Has it pipped externally?

I gave her the eggs all on the same day as I do not have a rooster, so it's Day 23 for this one. She had a hard time covering all 10 eggs, to begin with, so I took 2 out and put them in the incubator early. It has not pipped externally, but I just listened with my stethoscope and hear "knocking" like it's trying to externally pip.

Thank you for taking a look!

I had someone more experienced than me guide me through helping it. She was convinced based upon the shape of the air cell that it was shrink-wrapped. It was severely shrink-wrapped in the egg, the entire membrane was white. We've opened up a little spot in the membrane, it's moist, put it back in the incubator. We will see what happens at this point. I feel certain it would have died so I'm okay with the outcome either way.

Thanks for looking and commenting. I really appreciate it!

Update: it died after a few hours.

Sorry to hear that. Thanks for the update.

My hair still wet from a shower, I waited for the rain to stop for a while, and went to fill up the riding mower. The nozzle came out, and I doused myself in gasoline. I resisted the urge to flick my Bic.
The grass was not only wet, but well over a foot in most places. What better way to mow that than with the deck set low?:thumbsup
Seriously, I couldn’t figure out what was wrong for a few minutes. I had forgotten that I’d lowered the deck.
Am I the only one with birds that aren’t afraid of the mower? That was getting old fast!
I was just going back to refill the tank when a sister I actually wanted to talk to called.
The yard looks good enough for playing and camping. Hopefully I’ll get to mow again in a few days if it isn’t raining.

You may have our sun and smoke and I’ll take the rain for awhile. I finally figured out why the pumpkin plants haven’t wilted in this heat. The smoke is a sunscreen.

This tomato is funky! It’s actually a closed C shape.
