EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Yes that’s always good. We have to many chickens to notice if one came up missing. But I think we have been lucky so far with the lack of predators. Almost everyone on our street has a free rangeing flock (and a rifle or two, or......)
Used to have too many myself. Sold 60. It’s so much better here now.

 Shhhhhh! It’s too early! Need more coffee!!

Hatch help plz: When to worry about a pip...

I had an egg make what I would call an incomplete pip about 14 hours ago. The tiniest bit of shell was raised but there has been no more progress. Very improbable that it got through the membrane. As I understand the hatching process, it wouldn't be pipping unless the air inside the egg was depleted. Would this be a case to intervene? Is it likely already too late?

Last night was the beginning of day 21 and others are hatching so they are right on schedule.
