EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Mc how's he been today? How is he with the quackers?
He’s pretty good! I have the fence up from the turkey pen. It’s about 24’x28’. I let him run loose in there today. I got a few pictures I really like without a leash or line. Especially this one!

He is good at escaping rooms. He ain’t never caught a rabbit, but getting over, under and around barriers wasn’t his issue! He stole food off the counter with me right there. :D
He’s having fun hiding his toys everywhere. I just gave him a few more.

He has no real interest in the birds. Any dog has to be watched though.

I am so happy to have discovered an online hunting supply store located nearby. The nearby was coincidence. I wanted a nameplate instead of a tag, and I needed another long line (old big dog supplies are likely in the garage) for exercising him. For a while anyway.

I've found that for some reason, Beagles are great around chickens. Never met one yet that was a killer.

I had a stray beagle attack a flock of chickens when he somehow squeezed into the run. He didn't kill any but terrorized the whole flock and pulled out a lot of feathers. When I discovered it, he was standing on top of the rooster barking. The rooster was covering two hens that were cowering in a crevice between a raised bed and the coop. There were 11 hens in that flock that had been laying regularly. I got one egg and a shell-less blob that day and not another egg for 2 months. None of the birds would even come out of the coop for 3 days.
