EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

No hunting does allowed here. Too bad because there’s far too many
You need to apply for one of a limited number of doe tags in July here. I think the buck number is two. Of course, we still have people shooting everything, then picking which one they want.

Hello Ken
Is there any restrictions on hunting does? Are they any differences between a buck or a doe hunting tags? ( price, age, numbers, time of Year ect )

Here the season is the same. Number of tags is by county. In my county, you can get six doe tags and one buck tag. Eating wise, does are more tender.

Really, wow. California doesn't understand game management at all.
So I did a search on this. Apparently it’s left up to a county vote of sorts. It usually gets voted down. I’m going to ask a friend of mine to see what’s up. I do know we have at least 6 does in our yard and they get real skinny in the summer. Ticks are another concern here. I’m not sure what their territory is or how many there are in the surrounding areas.

I think we’ve had one doe season here. It was met with such opposition I don’t think they’ve allowed it again. But I’m out of touch with that. I’ll find out and let you know.

Ok did another search on the doe situation. Apparently they are not called does anymore. Here’s what I found. This is on a forum asking questions about hunting in California the top one is a guy questioning the guidelines the bottom is a response to his post. Hilariously sad.
