EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

@Akrnaf2 so did you have a good birthday? So how is that different when it falls like that on the Sabbath?
My wife, ( which have birthday in the same date as me....) was in conference in London, and she came only yesterday evening so, everything has been postponed to later this week, but the kids gave us flowers and made a nice cake, a Tiramisu,

and the The family and friends greeted us so it was nice.

OH HI Y'ALL. :frow

I know it's been a hot minute since I've been here. We moved into our house in the Flemish countryside (after talking about it for three years) and we're on a list to receive some Ayam Cemani hens to rebuild our flock. Had a lot of death in the families, so we're just trying to hold on. Lost a close family friend (cousin's wife's father) and I lost my uncle. Nearly lost my grandfather in a car accident but he managed to pull through. Kiddo is doing great, he's walking and starting to talk and he's a super-active 15 month old. I'm excited to get new birds, he loves chickens and he'd appreciate having some of his own.

How is everyone doing? What's the hot news?? I've been gone too long lol.

:frow So glad to hear from you! It is hard to believe that he is walking and talking. Time flies.

Not much new hear just work and kidding season.

@daxigait Nice! Yeah the time flies. He's nearly a year and a half now, starts preschool next year in September. We're doing home school until then, because they want him knowing shapes, colors, body parts, and some of his letters and numbers by the time he's in classes. I'd home school him his whole school career but it's incredibly difficult to do so in Belgium legally. It's easier to send him to school and also teach him at home.

We're eyeballing some smaller coop and run combos over here, just because we don't want more than four birds at a time. We know a lot more about keeping chickens now, so it's easier to make better choices for us and the birds. Helps also that the feed store finally put their stock online so I can get medications now without having to fight the language barrier at the store itself. Reading different languages has always been easier than speaking them for me.

I missed y'all a lot while we were getting our life back in order.

So what type of chickens are you going to have? I have plans to go down to just a few birds. I'd love to have them but I don't have time to keep cleaning up after them, and they eat too much ($$$). I don't need the extra eggs just a few.
