My chickens run like the wind, even as day old chicks. I have to be on my toes pulling them out of the incubator moving them to the brooder. They have gotten away and I haven't been able to catch them till after dark.

Perhaps that's why they are both so easy to keep in short fences and they are so predator proof. They can fly but much prefer to run. They're more likely to find a way to sneak under a fence than go over a 3 foot fence.
We once had a pack of feral dogs get into a field of 100# hogs and bit big holes in the sides of about 20 of them exposing the guts.
It was awful.
