I sure don't do the heat! And it's here! When I tell folks I prefer winter, most look at me like I'm....well I'm not quite sure I've pegged a saying for that look yet.. I love fall and Spring.

93 today weather man says. I think it’s hotter. Been in it all day putting up sun shade the length of deck. Not done but body and temps say I am.

Prefer colder as well. Not necessarily freezing but colder than this for sure.

Can anyone just jump into this thread? I'm new to BYC and still feeling my way around.

Yesterday I set 12 Icelandic eggs. This is my second try. My first incubation I only got 6 of 18. They were shipped eggs, so I know that drove down my success rate, but I am a perfectionist and I would really appreciate being talked through this one.

My factors: This time I picked up the eggs, and all of the air cells were small and stable. I have a Brinsea Maxi Eco II. I have two additional thermometer/hygrometers in there--just cheap, little digital ones. I am at about 4,000 feet elevation and normally very arid climate. This year we have been more humid, but it looks like this week we will be back to our usual. With no water in the 'bator, it runs at about 15-25% humidity. The 'bator manual recommends 40-50%, but a lot of what I read recommends "dry hatching" with ~30% humidity. Despite endless research, I'm still confused about what humidity to aim for. Obviously I will monitor the air cell growth, but I know that one of the things wrong with my last hatch was that the air cells were huge at lock down, so I'm kind of afraid of "dry hatching," despite how popular it seems to be. Right now I have it at 40%.

So...will it be possible to be mentored through this?

Most of Montana gets kind of hot in the summer, unfortunately. We actually have the national record for widest temperature range, from -70 to 117. It gets into the 100s most summers, and we usually have weeks of 90+ temps. This summer has been mild--today is the first day I had temps over 90. But--no humidity! :D
