EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

It HAS turned into a draggy hatch. We've hit the 24 hour point, and only 5 are out. Three are pipped. I snuck a couple of unpipped eggs out and they have pipped internally, so I just need to be patient. IT'S DREADFUL, this waiting!

And happy birthday, Benny!

Anything new? I just bartered for 20 dozen eggs, go me.... lol
Anyone ever do the glassing method or the Hyd lime method for long term storage?
It is so cool to see some colored eggs again! and she sent all sorta colors!!
To put it bluntly, the glassing and lime methods are old wives tales.
The Mother Earth News did one of the most extensive tests on all known methods of storing eggs long term using 60 dozen eggs. 30 dozen store eggs and 30 dozen homestead eggs. Below is the study but in a nutshell, the best long term storage was with clean unwashed eggs in a sealed container and refrigerated. They can then keep for up to 7 months.
The water glas method kept eggs for up to 5 months and the lime eggs went bad even sooner.
