EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Boars=domesticated
Hogs=wild?
We tend to use those terms interchangeably.
Wild hogs are also known as wild boars. Wild feral pigs here have their origin in the Eurasian Wild Boar. On a smaller scale, sometimes domestic pigs escape and become feral.
On the following page you can see how the wild boars range is increasing dramatically.

And the history that explains interbreeding with domestics.

We define them as Boars=adult male pig, barrow=immature male that has been castrated. Sow is an adult female and a gilt is technically a female pig under 6 months of age but is also referred to as any female that has yet to be bred.
Though castration is usually done at 7 days of age, we used to wait till 2 weeks of age to castrate the male piglets. Partly because the farm was 100 miles from our house Sometimes one would get past that age. I once had to wrestle a 50lb. pig to get it done.

Dad is excited. After all the problems I had with Sunshine and the incubator 11 chicks hatched (not including the one that died overnight last night or the one that's alive but still hasn't pipped). One has a minor case of wry neck that's slowly working itself out. No curled toes, which is amazing all things considered. I'm think about just culling that final unhatched egg. The chick is too big to hatch on its own and it hasn't pipped the air cell yet. I don't have high hopes for it. I need to get the bator cleaned out for more eggs ( the neighbors' chickens are still laying in my yard).
According to Govee website, you can add multiple units to one Ap account.

lol so what's your favorite way? or do you avoid it for the above reasons?

Thanks very much!
I know about the ferral pigs problem in the US, especially in Texas. There are a lot of YouTube videos showing all kinds of hunting and trapping of this harmful animals.

Yes it is but it’s also a scary thing. I meet many different people daily. No shaking hands and masks can only do so much. So far so good, but nerves are fried. Some pay attention to the new rules some not so much. Being out in it the first few weeks was definitely different. Felt guilty but at the same time reluctant to be working. Traffic has definitely picked up even before things were “re opened” it’s a strange feeling when you could walk across a freeway blindfolded any time of the day.
Traffic has been awfully heavy the last 2 or 3 days here. I really liked the empty roads.
The two bars where I shoot pool opened yesterday. I'm not going. I drove right on by. I may go back in a month or two, depending on if our cases start disappearing. But for now, we keep climbing. I sure could use a haircut though.

Traffic part had been nice. I’m starting to see more emergency vehicles as well now. I’m cautious around others also. Family situation doesn’t allow for me to get sick. But work has been deemed essential so far so good. Had to have emergency root canal yesterday. The offices are different now and check in is actually done in the parking lot. Basically no waiting room. You come in after they’ve cleaned up from last patient.
Oh and I got a hair cut. :yesss: :oops:

The guy that cuts my hair lives in IL but his shop in in MO. He is allowed to be open now but his wife is sick so he probably won't open for another week or two.
I badly need the dentist but no emergency so far so I can wait.
I do need to go to one of those pool bars because they owe me a bunch of money.
