I know I originally said I didn't want a rooster because of the noise, but I was starting to wonder if Edward was ever going to make any sound at all! Then yesterday, two days shy of his 15 week birthday, out came a very respectable crow! It was lovely!
I'm so glad you guys talked me into keeping him "as is"

. He has been a wonderful addition to the flock. Even at his young age, his devotion to his duty of protecting the girls is admirable. He never goes into the coop at night until everyone else is in, and as soon as he hears one of his girls in distress, he's right there to save the day! I love that little guy!

At the moment he's caught between two extremes - an older, established flock of hens who have never lived with a rooster and have no respect for his attempts at authority, and the pullets he was raised with, who think he's the hottest thing ever.
Poor Edward.

It was so funny - my husband and I were out raking the yard, and we heard the strangest sound, and couldn't imagine what bird had made it. Then we heard it again - and again! It took three times before I figured out it was him! When we went to look, there he was just as proud as he could be.

OH How cool! My Mr. Meany finally did a somewhat crow today. My DH was the first one to hear it, but by the time I got outside I heard this god awful sound. Yup it was him trying his hardest to crow like a big boy........It has put me in the best mood today, besides it is also the first day of summer. Let's see if I can put a picture of him on here.
