EE a Roo or Hen?

Oh, okay, so it is just more difficult to tell EE roos from hens. That makes me fell better becuase the woman I bought my EE from was very nice and knew alot about birds. She had a ton of them roaming her small farm. So the verdict is for sure a roo then? Because if so, I have to take him back to the farm. It's a shame, he's just so beautiful. Yes, lessons learned for SURE! Thanks everyone for your responses. I really do appreciate them!

Absolute rooster, no doubt. Easter Eggers can be hard to tell gender until much later, but he looks pretty obvious to me... Especially if she had a pullet to compare to. Not all chicken sellers lie, but.. This is a definate rooster. I hope you are able to have luck getting more hens!

I called the farm back where I got my EE and they were very apologetic and like what all of you said, it is sometimes difficult to tell an EE pullet vs hen. They will take him back...phew. Now I just have to worry about my BR.

Thanks everyone!

I posted the same thing last week - a picture of our 9 week EE chicken...hoping for a hen, but knowing it was a rooster. We are trying to figure out everyway to keep him and it is breaking our hearts. Not only is he beautiful he is the sweetest chicken. We too purchased a pullet - so maybe they are harder to sex than other.

Really? I hatched a batch of EE chicks last summer, and all of them that were that "blender" color were roos (that's a real good discription of their color, Morgan

). I was so disapointed, because I really liked that color, and thought that it was just my luck that I wouldn't have a EE pullet of that color. I'll know now in the future though. Thanks Illia!

I'm sorry VikingMom4. It's breaking my heart too. Our EE is the SWEETEST of them all too. Always runs right up to me when I'm near and makes the prettiest chirping sounds. And thanks Illia, I'll know in the future about the "blender color" EE roo. *Sigh* but back to the farm "Charlotte" goes.

NCChicken - I am glad that we aren't the only ones who are crazy over our chickens. My kids have made a space for our EE Roo to live in our basement/their playroom - they want him to live inside so not to bother the neighbors! They think he will live inside with us, spend some time outside during the day, and sleep in the dark basement at night...what love will do!!

This is Browny and was sold as an Ameraucana but I know it is more of a EE. However, since my son has become very attached to this one we are hoping it is a girl. What do you think?
I am new at this so lets hope the pics actually show
